Shaun Partridge

b. Denver, CO (USA) 1968

A native of Denver, Colorado, Shaun Partridge first piqued the public's interest in 1988, as the co-founder of the infamous Partridge Family Temple, a religion devoted to the worship of the members of The Partridge Family television show. Along with co-founder, Dan Partridge, Shaun developed a thorough ideological / theosophical schematic for The Partridge Family Temple's belief system: in Jungian tradition, each member of the original Partridge Family is seen to represent a different archetypal God or Goddess, and is to be worshiped as such. Keith, Laurie, Shirley, Danny, Chris and Tracy are all gods. Shirley is the Virgin Mother / Earth Goddess, Danny is the trickster, Laurie is the Holy Harlot / Whore of Babylon / Scarlet Woman archetype, Tracy is the nymph virgin, and so on, and so forth.

Within less than a decade of its inception, The Partridge Family Temple had gained devotees throughout the United States and Europe, and had received considerable media attention, being featured on such programs as A Current Affair, The Jon Stewart Show, NPR, and others, as well as numerous magazines and newspapers. Though The Temple is often dismissed as being "just a cult," Shaun and other Temple members are quick to assert that The Partridge Family Temple is very much a religion - a religion devoted to absolute fun (and no - there is nothing farcical or 'ironic' about it whatsoever).

After many years spent preaching the good news in his hometown of Denver (also the location of The Temple's main shrine, Casa Bonita), Shaun relocated to Portland, Oregon to pursue more disciplined artistic endeavors. Once settled in Portland, he decided to run for mayor - his campaign included employing the city's homeless at McDonalds, playing easy-listening music throughout the downtown area, hiring only Irish cops, and destroying all buildings built after 1973. Sadly, in spite of getting almost eight hundred votes, Shaun didn't win the election, and thus isn't "officially" the mayor of Portland.

Outside of his involvement with The Partridge Family Temple, Shaun Partridge has gained a considerable reputation over the years as being an adept prankster and provocateur. His pranks and performances tend to produce extreme reactions from audiences / viewers, often resulting in anger, confusion, tears... and in some cases violence. Partridge has performed live with Marilyn Manson, and appeared on Boyd Rice's "Hatesville!" and "The Way I Feel" albums, as well as The Electric Hellfire Club's "Dr. Love" album, and SCRAMBLEHEAD's "Valley Of The Bugs." Shaun also contributed to the infamous "rape issue" of ANSWER Me! magazine, and has been interviewed for numerous publications such as Rollerderby, Westword and PANIK.

In the late 1990s, Shaun Partridge began to refer to his art as "Un-Pop," coining the term that would later develop into the UNPOP ART Movement, which Partridge co-conceived of with Boyd Rice and Brian Clark in the latter half of 2003.

In recently years Shaun Partridge has devoted himself almost entirely to his UNPOP art, and a number of his works have been exhibited at various galleries, including "The End Is Near!," an exhibit curated by Adam Parfrey of Feral House Books. Shaun is currently working on a concept album / Art piece concerning the alchemical connections between Adolph Hitler and Anne Frank - "As in the attic, so in the bunker."
