PET
BOOKS
Greenleaf
Classics published smutty paperbacks from as early as 1959 and lasted into the early 1980's.
With the loosening legal limitations on publishing, Greenleaf was one of the
longer-lasting houses to disseminate all kinds of books on everything
from homosexuality, slave-sex, and beastiality; incest and degredation
abound throughout their publications.
The series of images that appear in this selection of UNPOP Readymade
art are from the anonymous illustrator of the "Pet Book" series.
There was enough interest in female-dog, female-horse, female-etc. copulation
that the books were published from the late 70's into at least 1983 (a
minimum of 5 years with many titles published each year).
Each book, of course came with full color covers, featuring a circular
painting (or in a few cases, colored pencil). Colorful and sometimes somehow
innocent, the images themselves are fairly innocuous; but the literary contents they advertise and allude to
connote a taboo that few
in the extremes of the sexual underground would boldly challenge.
Though
there is a support group for male homosexual pedophiles, websites and
fanclubs for people who like to dress up and imitate animals - there are
very few instances of people who willfully admit they enjoy having sex
or watching others have sex with actual non-human animals - but yet the
longevity of this series tells of the many people who did (and in all
likelyhood - still do).
